When it comes to determining the best Yamaha portable keyboard, there are obviously lots to choose from, but for the price, the Yamaha YPT200K has to be a contender. This keyboard has been a top favourite with many learners and I think it offers the best value amongst all the Yamaha portable keyboards. The instrument is astonishingly light considered the service its going to give you and the features that it is packed with. Moreover it is very user friendly and is extremely lucid in directions. If you are buying your first keyboard then this keyboard is a great choice. There are sixty one full sized keys on the instrument along with a hundred and thirty four instrumental tones that are high quality. In fact it also contains about a hundred music styles that you can easily use for backing and enriching the music you want to play. The grand features of this instrument include properties like a brilliant stereo system that can be used with the grand piano tone and with a sound, which is unmistakably piano-ish. If you are a beginner, this Yamaha portable keyboard is all the more beneficial because it has a educational learning suite installed in it which will teach you, step by step, more than a hundred songs saved in it. As such, once you buy this keyboard you will not have the need to take keyboard lessons from others and can learn to play all by yourself. I prefer this keyboard over many others because of its amazing sound quality and variety of included songs. Any other keyboard of the same quality would cost you more than the price of the Yamaha YPT200K by at least a half as much again. Overall, when you consider the price, the functionality and even the quality, notwithstanding the brand name, this Yamaha portable keyboard is truly one of the best out there.

With Electronic Keyboards, the musical sound is generated or produced by an electronic device or by several electronic devices and is slightly different from workstation keyboards, it is mainly an affordable entry level musical instrument featuring a keyboard that enjoyed huge popularity in the eighties and that popularity and patronage is still going strong. The Electronic Keyboards rose to prominence with the eighties hit chartbusting pop songs and New Wave music and these type of keyboards are mainly used by children and learners/beginners and that is why they are often sold in toy stores and electronic stores where they are juxtaposed with video games, stereos etc.Electronic Keyboards are also priced on the low side. Whereas a high end feature rich musical keyboard used by professional music artists can set you back by anything upwards of $2000 or $3000, these so called beginner electronic keyboards are priced between $170 and $400 and are extremely affordable. The reason for this huge price difference is very simple – these kinds of keyboards are lacking in most of the high end features, which professional musical instruments possess, the sound output is rather mediocre or average, the keyboard itself is smaller in size and even a novice or a child can play music on it.And if you think that you can deride a keyboard of this type, then you are sadly mistaken because no one nowadays creates any distinction between professional musical instruments and these beginner instruments. You might not know this but there are quite a few music arrangers and musicians who love to use Electronic Keyboards now and then to add some variety and spice up their music. Pre programmed rhythm patterns that were included in inexpensive keyboards were used widely and frequently in the immensely popular reggae musical genre of the eighties. However, cutting edge computer technology has made it possible for even Electronic Keyboards to boast of high end features of multiple varieties that were unimaginable even a few years back and the price of these instruments is also reasonable, at below $1000.

Almost all electronic piano keyboard functions have MIDI controls. They use an interface to send data as well as receive data. Now what is this data thats sent or received by these controls. For the simplest type of keyboard, data would be sent at the moment you press a key on a keyboard. These signals would then determine the specific note that has been pressed and the duration of the act or pressing down of the note. The duration has to be acknowledged because the amount of time the key is being pressed down for; has to be the same on the receiver or other keyboard source. Along with this signal there are other factors working which enables the success of the MIDI control. Each key that you touch has a sensor to it. Now, the function of this touch sensor is to sense the amount pressure that is being applied to the key and according the depth of sound produced, that note will vary. For more pressure the sound will be deeper while for less pressure it will be mild. Previously, only professional digital keyboards included MIDI. However, today all the electronic piano keyboards use it for effective sound production. The main purpose of the MIDI on an electronic piano keyboard is actually to produce a variety of sounds rather than just improving the quality of sound. This function is often preferred, as it enables the user to produce a variety of digital effects in the music he or she is playing. You can have effects like delay, reverberation, tremolo and the very common chorus effect. These effects help enhance the sound sensation of your music and therefore create different registers of track in the listener. Also, auto harmony can be used to create complemental notes of each single note at any pitch possible. There are also the modulation and pitch wheels that are added benefits along with the sustain pedals which help hold the notes for as long as necessary. Before MIDI was a common feature, keyboards were quite boring but now, every electronic piano keyboard can be used to produce a wide variety of sounds and effects.
